Tell us your story

Ongoing
We're collecting stories of life in Leicester's Cultural Quarter for a major research project, in partnership with the University of Leicester.

Phoenix invites you to step inside our video booth and share your stories and memories of Leicester’s Cultural Quarter, as part of a major research project looking at the history of the area and how it has changed over the past 40 years.

Perhaps you worked in one of the local factories?  Did you spend your Saturday nights at the dance halls and nightclubs that opened when the factories closed?

Maybe you’re a regular visitor to Curve or Phoenix, or live in this area?

Tell us what you used to do in the Cultural Quarter, where you went and who with, and what you do now.

Whatever your story, we want to hear it – it’ll help to paint a real picture of life in the area.

Recording your story is simple and takes only 2 minutes – just follow the step by step instruction inside the booth, then your video will be uploaded to the Affective Digital Histories online archive and you, and everyone else will be able to access it.

The booth is currently at LCB Depot, Rutland Street, Leicester and will be moving around other Cultural Venues until the end of March 2015.

The video booth is part of the Affective Digital Histories project, exploring the stories of people who lived and worked in former industrial buildings in Leicester’s Cultural Quarter.  The project is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and run in partnership with the University of Leicester and Cuttlefish Multimedia.
