With the latest family film releases, creative digital workshops and young filmmaker summer camps – there’s plenty to keep young ones inspired this summer at Phoenix, Leicester’s independent cinema, art centre and café bar.
Gru’s back in Despicable Me 3 (Fri 14 – Thu 27 Jul) and Lightning McQueen returns in Cars 3(28 July – 10 Aug).
In August, Captain Underpants and Spider-Man: Homecoming take their turn on the big screen (dates to be confirmed).
Family film tickets cost just £6 per person, with added popcorn and a drink for an extra £1.50.
There will be free drop-in workshops every Thursday afternoon between 20 July and 24 August for children to get creative with digital technology – making DIY musical instruments, creating holograms, or 3D printed designs for a spacecraft.
Budding filmmakers can join one of three 5-day summer camps in July and August, learning new skills and making their own short film.
Two of the camps are already sold out, but there are still spaces on the Film Academy course for 16-19 year olds which runs from 31 July to 4 Aug and costs £160.
A freshly-cooked ‘pick & mix’ children’s menu is on offer in the Café Bar, and there’s a Kids Corner with games, books and colouring in.
