Phoenix cinema and art centre in Leicester has announced an exciting new opportunity for local artists who want to experiment with cutting edge technology in their work.
The Phoenix Interact Labs bursary scheme is open to artists, designers and technologists based in Leicester and Leicestershire. As well as an award of up to £500, the scheme provides access to workspace and a tailored programme of creative and technical support.
The bursaries will be based in Phoenix’s Interact Labs – a space for making and experimenting with art and technology. Co-funded by Phoenix and Cuttlefish Multimedia, the scheme is an important part of both organisations’ commitment to widening access to creative technology and providing support for the local arts community.
On Saturday 19th July there will be a free, drop-in Open Labs event at Phoenix between 1pm – 5pm. This is the perfect opportunity for anyone interested in the bursary scheme to see the technology in action and talk to Phoenix’s creative and technical staff.
The scheme has been designed to offer artists the freedom to innovate and experiment without being tied down to the traditional gallery exhibition format. New ways of exhibiting work online, in public spaces or further afield will be explored collaboratively by Phoenix and the selected participants during the course of the project. The deadline for applications is 31st July and more information about how to apply can be found on the Phoenix website www.phoenix.org.uk
