As you know, Phoenix reopened to the public on 6 October, and over the past four weeks we have welcomed many loyal supporters and some new faces through our doors. Feedback from our customers has been very positive, and as a team we have been touched by the many wonderful comments from you about how great it is to be back – all of which makes the news of another lockdown even harder.
This weekend’s announcement by the government of a further national lockdown in England means that Phoenix must close temporarily from Thursday 5 November for a period of at least 27 days.
We aim to reopen again on Thursday 3 December – pending further government announcements – with a full programme of films, Stage on Screen, art and short courses in the run up to Christmas.
Tickets for screenings that are taking place from early December onwards will still be available to purchase online.
As before, we will endeavour to reschedule cancelled events wherever possible, and tickets already purchased will be valid for the new dates. Please be assured that options on refunds will be available and our Box Office team will contact customers with existing bookings in due course. Please be patient as it may take us a little while to do this.
We remain open as normal until 10pm on Wednesday 4 November, with a full cinema programme and Café Bar service, so please take advantage of this and enjoy a film at Phoenix this week.
PHOENIX AT HOME
While we are closed we will continue to offer a curated programme via Phoenix at Home, and our online courses will continue as scheduled with sessions delivered via Zoom.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
These are difficult times indeed, and it is likely that temporary closures will become more widespread over the winter months. This is obviously challenging for venues like Phoenix, who rely on being open to the public to generate income.
While we hope this latest closure will be relatively short, we are immensely grateful for any support that you are able to offer, be that in the form of a donation, taking out a membership, or buying some gift vouchers – all of which can be done online. Phoenix has been a Leicester institution for decades, and with your support we hope to be here for many years to come.
Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you again in December.
