A new film programme has been developed by Phoenix and its partners to make audiences feel happier. Throughout March a series of films will be shown in community centres around the city, with the aim of reaching people who may not usually see films in the cinema.
The programme is designed to bring people together for positive, social events feauturing a selection of films to suit a range of audiences, all with an uplifting theme.
Titles will include The Crowded Day, an entertaining and thought provoking film with a cast of warmly regarded British character actors. Also showing is Tricks, a Polish language film about a young boy’s journey to challenge his fate, as well as a selection of animated short films aimed at young children.
The pilot, funded in full by the Leicester City council, will take place in venues such as the Fosse Neighbourhood Centre, Belgrave Neighbourhood Centre, Thurnby Lodge Community Centre and The Tudor Centre. An extended programme will be brought to you in April with the support of Leicester City Councils public health team.
