Visitors to Leicester’s Diwali Lights Switch-On will be able to walk through ‘Ocean of Light’, a stunning outdoor artwork featuring thousands of lights suspended in space.
This huge array of lights immerses the viewer in patterns of moving colour, creating a vast three dimensional screen where the real and virtual worlds combine.
The beautiful installation will be available for all to enjoy in the Diwali Village on Cossington Recreation Ground on Sunday 16 and Monday 17 October between 5pm – 9pm.
Ocean of Light is created by Squidsoup, an international group of digital artists, and is brought to Diwali by Phoenix Cinema and Art Centre.
Measuring 7m x 7m in size and containing thousands of individual points of light, the artwork is part of a series of works by Squidsoup which use large arrays of light in 3D space.
This project has been supported by Leicester City Council’s Culture 2016 Fund, a programme to enhance cultural activity across key events in 2016.
Squidsoup is an international group of artists, researchers and designers (UK/NO/NZ) working with digital and interactive media experiences.
