Two Cars, One Night (2004)
Ricky, Programme Assistant
“I went to this screenwriting course and the tutor showed a number of short films, including Two Cars, One Night. Taika Waititi hadn’t even made his feature debut Eagle vs Shark yet at this point, but the tutor was predicting big things. Well, little did he know… I remembered the name, it’s not one you forget and I’ve managed to see every one of his five feature films since in the cinema.
Two Cars, One Night already displayed Waititi’s signature humour and warmth, with familiar characters whose paper-thin bravura disguises none of their vulnerability. It’s a sweet film, that pretends it’s cooler than it is, and it’s actually pretty cool.”
