This 8-week course will help participants – at any level of acting experience – develop the skills and techniques specific to film acting. This will include demonstrations of the differences between theatre and film acting; exercises to develop effective screen presence; and tips on understanding the film industry and an actor’s place in it. Plus on-set best practice, auditioning, professional development, and more.

No previous acting experience necessary.

Course Breakdown:

Week 1: Life through a Lens – an introduction to film acting
Week 2: Shredding the Boards – differences between theatre and film acting
Week 3: Reacting – working with scene partners
Week 4: I’m Ready for My Close-Up – effective screen presence
Week 5: Fade In – working a script
Week 6: What’s My Motivation? – taking direction
Week 7: Once More Into the Breach – monologues and speeches on film
Week 8: All The World’s A Screen – getting an agent, getting the job
