Scandi-noir, Nordic-noir – call it what you will – has had us glued to our TVs and cinema screens for over a decade, but the literary roots actually stretch back to the appearance of Martin Beck in 1965. Join us for a six-week tour of the crime fiction phenomenon on TV and film, as we travel across Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Iceland to look at the cultural backgrounds and differences of your favourite cops and assorted crime-solvers. About the Tutor

Alan Seaman is an experienced freelance film teacher who works for a wide variety of venues, particularly Phoenix, Derby’s Quad, and Broadway in Nottingham. His main areas of interest are British, Scandinavian and European cinema. Alan is also a stand-up comedian and comedy club compere, and is edging slowly and painfully towards completion of his first crime novel.
