Stand-up comedy has never been more popular but remains a relatively rarely used theme in narrative cinema. Coinciding with the Leicester Comedy Festival, this one-day course with tutor Alan Seaman will look at various portrayals of stand-up comedians in cinema, looking at films such as Annie Hall (1977), The King of Comedy (1982) and The Front (1976).


This course will be delivered in person at Phoenix.

ABOUT THE TUTOR


Alan Seaman is an experienced freelance film teacher who works for a wide variety of venues, particularly Phoenix, Derby’s Quad, and Broadway in Nottingham. His main areas of interest are British, Scandinavian and European cinema. Alan is also a stand-up comedian and comedy club compere, and is edging slowly and painfully towards completion of his first crime novel.
