In the heat of a Berlin summer, 14-year-old caterpillar enthusiast Nora plays third wheel to her older sister Jule and her best friend Aylin. Feeling the pressure to fit in, Nora joins in with the smoking, drinking and other antics. But Nora feels very much an outsider, and with their alcoholic mother largely absent, Jule grows tired of supervising her younger sibling

When an embarrassing event occurs at school one day, it’s the last straw for Jule. Nora is rescued by an older girl called Romy, and friendship blossoms into first love.

A realistic depiction of the trials and triumphs of female adolescence, Cocoon is a raw and honest coming-of-age tale.
