Phoenix Beer Festival

Sat 24 – Mon 26 Aug, 12pm til late

Join us for our annual summer beer festival, in partnership with our friends at Everards.

There’ll be cask and keg ales, craft beers and guest ciders from around the UK, a delicious BBQ and tasty specials on our Café Bar menu (with vegan options). We’ve also got outdoor games, a DJ set from Alan Morton on Saturday night (as part of the Short Cinema film festival), and fantastic live music on Sunday evening and Monday afternoon courtesy of Leicester musician Les Hayden.

We’ll also be launching our new and exclusive Phoenix 2020 fundraising beer at the festival, with 20p from every pint going towards our Phoenix 2020 project. Brewed by Everards, it’s a golden citrus ale that’ll be available in our Café Bar for the next 12 months.

Entry to the festival is FREE, and with a sunny bank holiday ahead there’s no better place to relax and enjoy a pint or two. Cheers!

FESTIVAL BEERS & CIDERS

HOT TROPIC
(ABV 4.2%, Leatherbritches Brewery, Ashby de la Zouch)
A pale, golden ale with an explosion of tropical hoppiness. Cascade, Crystal, Rakau, Simcoe and Perle hops produce an intensely tropical aroma and taste. Malts such as Marris Otter, Pale Ale and a hint of Cara malt give the beer a smooth character with grapefruit, tangerine, passionfruit, pine needles, orange and cedar notes.

SHORT & CURLY
(ABV 4.5%, Slaughterhouse Brewery, Warwick)
A golden brew, made with the addition of lager and Vienna malt to create a beautiful warm gold hue. Slightly sweet taste, balanced off with British Olicana and Admiral hops.

ARCHER
(ABV 4.0%, Lincoln Green Brewery, Nottingham)
An American pale ale packed with US Chinook and Citra varieties, resulting in a hoppy nose and citrus palate.

BRAMPTON BEST
(ABV 4.2%, Brampton Brewery, Chesterfield)
A standard Session bitter, brewed using only traditional and classically English malt and hop combinations. Short-listed for Champion Beer of Britain at the CAMRA Great British Beer Festival 2010.

BLACK SABBATH
(ABV 6.0%, Brunswick Brewing Company, Derbyshire)
A multi-award winning dark strong old ale. Full bodied, yet deceptively easy drinking with liquorice and roasted coffee notes and a spicy character.

GAMMA RAY
(ABV 5.4%, Beavertown Brewery, Tottenham)
An amber American pale ale, crammed with juicy malts and tropical aromas of mango and grapefruit. Brewed using Columbus, Bravo, Amarillo, Citra, Calypso and Mosaic hops, to give a huge hop flavour. Vegan.

NECK OIL
(ABV 4.3%, Beavertown Brewery, Tottenham)
A brilliantly ‘easy’ Session IPA. Extra pale base malts keep it crisp and give the hops a wonderful platform. Brewed using Columbus, Centennial, Simcoe, Amarillo, Galaxy, Vic Secret and Mosaic hops. Vegan.

MANGOES ON THE RUN
(ABV 5.6%, Innes & Gunn, Edinburgh)
A fruity mango IPA that’s light and fresh with tropical flavours. Brewed with Hercules, Citra and Simcoe varieties, it’s silky smooth with lingering hoppy bitterness.

HIGH WIRE GRAPEFRUIT
(ABV 5.5%, Magic Rock Brewing Co, Huddersfield)
A fruit-infused version of Magic Rock’s best-selling West Coast pale ale. Cascade, Cenennial, Chinook, Citra, Columbus and Magnum hops and 100% natural pink grapefruit flavour create a pale ale that’s juicy, tart and deliciously refreshing.

BIG DROP CITRA IPA
(ABV 0.5%, Big Drop Brewing Co, Ipswich)
A fruity and refreshing low alcohol IPA, with a juicy lime and grapefruit aroma and a hint of spiciness. Citra IPA is a delicate blend of mango, passionfruit and pineapple flavours, combined with a light, crisp, refreshing body, finishing with a smooth caramel aftertaste.

BIG DROP STOUT
(ABV 0.5%, Big Drop Brewing Co, Ipswich)
This award-winning low alcohol stout is dark, rich and indulgent, with notes of coffee, cocoa nibs and a lingering hint of sweet vanilla. Gluten free.

PIG SQUEAL
(ABV 7.0%, Snail’s Bank, Winslow)
Full of character, this rich bronze Herefordshire cider is smooth and beautifully balanced with a satisfyingly rounded finish.

CHERRIES & BERRIES
(ABV 4.0%, Lilley’s Cider, Somerset)
A fruity, sweet, still Somerset cider crafted with cherries and berries, giving soft berry notes and a bold cherry flavour.
