Winner of the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award at Sundance Film festival, this documentary follows young Afghan refugee Sonita. Working as a cleaner at a children’s charity in Iran whilst holding dreams of making it as a rapper, young Afghan refugee Sonita’s family want to sell her into marriage in order to fund her brother’s purchase of a bride. After filming a hard-hitting music video together, art and reality collide when Sonita asks filmmaker Rokhsareh Ghaemmaghami for her help.
