FREE Family Workshop: Rules for Computers (And The People Who Use Them)

Is it okay to be a Luddite? Of course it is! This hands-on family workshop with artist Mateus Domingos explores the history of the Luddites and what their ideas might mean today. Through making, discussion and experimentation, participants will consider technology, labour, the environment and the role digital devices play in everyday life.

The Luddites didn’t simply oppose technology – they organised, debated and published letters, statements and pamphlets to communicate their concerns. In this workshop, you’ll imagine a better relationship with technology by creating your own rules for computers. Together we’ll explore the environmental impact of computing, the use of data and the choices we make when using digital devices, then you’ll write, draw, remix and combine ideas into a collaborative zine manifesto to take home and share.

Drop-in, FREE. Suitable for ages 6+. Children must be supervised by a parent, guardian or responsible adult at all times.
