Writing the Climate Emergency

Several of the UK’s leading authors have formed Writers Rebel, an arm of Extinction Rebellion, to help voice the climate and biosphere emergency. Join Liz Jensen, author of bestselling eco-thriller The Rapture; Laline Paull, author of The Ice; and Gregory Norminton, author of The Devil’s Highway. The authors join us to discuss how writers can “write the emergency”, and how activism and authorship can combine.

My Name is Leon: Page to Screen with Kit de Waal & Guests

Kit de Waal, celebrated author, memoirist and University of Leicester Jean Humphreys writer-in-residence, joins us to discuss how her multi-award winning novel My Name is Leon became a celebrated BBC drama. Kit will discuss the adaptation process with her screenwriting collaborator (and brother) Dean O’Loughlin, and there’ll also be a pre-recorded interview with executive producer Lenny Henry. A screening of My Name is Leon will follow the talk.
