The directorial debut of Andy Serkis (Lord of the Rings, Planet of the Apes) was the opening Gala screening for the London film Festival, and is based on an inspiring true story of love and courage.
Living in Kenya with his wife Diana (Foy), roguish tea-broker Robin Cavendish (Garfield) is struck down with polio at the age of 28, confined to a hospital bed and given months to live.
But together the Cavendish’s demand more from themselves, daring to escape the hospital ward and with the help of Diana’s brothers (Tom Hollander in a dual role) and inventor Teddy Hall (Hugh Bonneville), determined to lead lives full of passion and adventure.
