Vampyr PG

Sat 16 Sep, 8pm

Synopsis

Carl Dreyer's stark drama of the supernatural, based on stories by Sheridan Le Fanu, is spooky enough when seen and heard in its original form. But the spine-tingling reaches a new level when the soundtrack's sparse dialogue and sound effects are woven together with the recent "re-score" devised, and performed live, by internationally acclaimed silent film specialists Stephen Horne and the ensemble Minima.

Prepare to drift out of body and soul as Julain West's vampyr hunter gets sucked into mysteries beyond comprehension, and Sybille Schmitz's wan face and fading strength can indicate another triumph for the undead.
