"invigorating, mercenary and sexy" – Peter Bradshaw, Guardian

Keira Knightley stars in this gorgeous biopic, telling the sensational true story of writer, mime-artist and actress Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette.

After marrying successful Parisian writer ‘Willy’ (West), Colette is transplanted from her rural childhood home to the splendour of Paris.

Persuaded to ghost-write for Willy to cover his mounting debts, Colette’s semi-autobiographical novel about a witty and brazen country girl named Claudine becomes a sensation.

With her work now the talk of Paris but under Willy’s name, Colette becomes determined to overcome societal constraints – fighting gender roles, revolutionising literature and freely exploring her sexuality.
