Atypical

Diamantino 15

Wed 22 – Thu 23 May

Synopsis

"Gabriel Abrantes and Daniel Schmidt rustle up one of the year's most singular debuts with this winningly bizarre, genre-melding political satire." – Variety

"A nicely comic performance by Carloto Cotta, who plays the footballer like a ripped Forrest Gump: empty-headed but adorable." – Guardian

"★★★★ – Utterly bonkers, heartfelt and perfectly tied together. Goal!" – Little White Lies

Portuguese football superstar Diamantino’s professional and personal life takes a drastic turn when he misses a penalty kick. In his delirious odyssey he adopts a refugee child, becomes a guinea pig for scientific experimentation, and is targeted by a shady secret organisation.

The film that was the talk of Cannes last year, Diamantino is loveable and ludicrous in equal measure.
