Claude Berri’s magnificent saga, based on Marcel Pagnol’s classic novels - Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources.
When Jean Cadoret (Depardieu) inherits a smallholding in rural France he uproots his wife and young daughter Manon to begin a new life in the country. But his neighbours covet Jean’s plot and will go to any length to get it, with shocking results.
Manon des Sources picks up the story ten years later, and Manon (Béart) is now a beautiful but shy shepherdess. When she unexpectedly discovers the truth about her neighbours and the water shortage that blights the village, Manon plots her revenge.
Heartbreaking, gorgeous and absolutely not to be missed.
