Gook 15

Fri 16 Mar – Thu 22 Mar

Synopsis

Gook, the stunning second film from director Justin Chon channels the anger and daring of early Spike Lee and couples it with a photographer’s eye for gorgeous black and white cinematography.

Set in LA immediately before and after the verdict in the Rodney King police brutality trial, Gook follows two young Korean Americans Eli and Daniel who run a struggling shoe store with the occasional help of 11 year-old African American girl Kamilla.

As rioting breaks out and racial tension begins to boil over in their rundown neighbourhood, the lives of the trio are all put at risk.

Dir: Justin Chon
