On the run, Xiaozhang finds himself in a series of ridiculous situations. Filled with gangster lowlifes, shady opportunists and hired killers, this is a stylish and pacey animated thriller.
The 8.45pm screening on Sat 31 Mar will be introduced by Hiu Man Chan who will discuss the current status of Chinese cinema in China and abroad, as well as the significance of this particular film and director Liu Jian’s career.
Hiu Man Chan is a Leicester based film critic, curator and researcher. She writes as a columnist for the UK-Chinese Times and has been invited to be part of the Jury for this year’s Chinese Visual Festival in London (2018 May). Academically, she is associated with the Centre for Visual Arts, Birmingham City University as a research assistant.
