Synopsis

"★★★★ – Zellweger and Garland coexist sybiotically" – Observer

"★★★★ – Renée Zellweger gives the performance of a lifetime" – Independent

Adapted from Peter Quilter’s stage play, Renée Zellweger gives the performance of her life as Judy Garland in this powerful and moving portrayal of a star near the end of her rainbow.

In the winter of 1968 Hollywood legend Judy Garland arrives in Swinging London to perform a five-week sold-out run in the West End. 30 years on from her iconic breakthrough role in The Wizard of Oz, with a litany of ex-husbands, money problems and personal demons, Judy is far removed from the fresh-faced young Dorothy that audiences fell in love with the world over. If her spirits have dimmed, the voice remains though and once Judy finds herself under the lights of the stage the old magic flickers back to life…

Featuring some of her best-known songs, the film celebrates the voice, the capacity for love, and the sheer pizzazz of “the world’s greatest entertainer.”
