My Pure Land 15

Mon 23 – Thu 26 Oct

Synopsis

Based on a remarkable true story, Nottingham filmmaker Sarmad Masud's debut feature film is set in rural Pakistan.

With their Uncle and a local militia determined to seize their land after her father is imprisoned, 18-year-old Nazo is forced to take up arms with her mother and sister in order to defend their home.

Taking place over one night, this gripping new film offers a fresh perspective on the Western format, and a feminist rebuke to Pakistan’s patriarchal society.
