Pond Life 15

Fri 14 – Thu 20 Jun

Synopsis

"★★★★ – A young cast are pitch-perfect in this adaptation of Richard Cameron’s South Yorkshire-set play" – Observer

"★★★★ – On the outside, this is an idyllic, slice-of-life drama about the joys of a summer spent chasing a fishy legend. However, underneath, Pond Life holds so much more" – The Upcoming

Summer, 1994. In a mining town just outside Doncaster, a legend is told of a giant carp in the nearby ponds.

Determined to catch it, local twenty-something Trevor leads a group of friends and neighbours to stake out the ponds overnight. Joining him are lovelorn teenager Malcolm, local lads Shane and Dave, and Pogo – a delicate young woman whose tragic past links her to Trevor.

A socially conscious drama in the vein of Ken Loach, Pond Life explores the boredom and frustrations of town life as the young people dream of adventure and escape.
