Synopsis

In 1860, a French lawyer dreamed of becoming the King of Patagonia. And he did just that. Or so it seems.

Filling the frame with eye-catching imagery created using a variety of film styles such as stop motion, Niles Atallah creates a film as beguiling and enigmatic as its official synopsis suggests.

Garnering comparisons to Jan Svenkmajer and Michel Gondry as well as Stan Brakhage’s experiments with the physical surface of his film stock, Rey is an off-kilter joy.
