Synopsis

Foot soldiers of the early feminist movement, the Suffragettes faced an increasingly brutal State in their campaign for votes for women.

Screening in partnership with De Montfort University to mark the centenary year of women’s suffrage. Prior to the screening we welcome, Peter Barratt, a great-grandson of Leicester Suffragette Alice Hawkins. Peter will give a short talk on her inspiring life story and also of his involvement in the making of the film.
