The Death of Stalin 15

Fri 20 Oct – Thu 2 Nov

Synopsis

★★★★★ - Empire | ★★★★★ - The Guardian | ★★★★★ - Time Out

From Armando Iannucci (Alan Partridge, The Thick of It, Veep), this hilarious comedy satire is adapted from Fabien Nury’s graphic novel of the same name, and depicts the frenzied political chicanery that immediately followed the death of Joseph Stalin in 1953.

As a host of Stalin’s underlings vie for power, things get increasingly underhand as they try to fill the vacuum left by the dictator’s demise!

Laugh out loud funny and at times gloriously sweary, The Death of Stalin sees a brilliant ensemble casts including Steve Buscemi, Jeffrey Tambor, Jason Isaacs, Simon Russell Beale and Michael Palin all on top form.

Before the 7.50pm screening on Mon 23 Oct, bring your comrades to hear Chris Goldsmith - Department of Politics and Public Policy at DMU - talk about the political situation in Russia leading up to and following the death of Stalin.
