The Work 15

Mon 25 – Thu 28 Sep

Accompanied by the poster-line “Not all prisons have walls” this gripping documentary is set in California's Folsom State Prison, and follows a group of inmates going through an intensive four-day group therapy session.

As the men take it in turns to delve into their own histories and discuss their lives and crimes, the emotions dredged up are rawer and more powerful than either the inmates or therapists expected.

A world away from the usual representation of prison on screen, The Work shows the possibility of change and forces us to confront our beliefs on rehabilitation.
