“★★★★ – powerful moral drama from a master of Iranian cinema” – Observer
"★★★★ – an enthralling story of secrets, illicit cash and lies" – Telegraph
“★★★★ – A cautionary fable whose purest notes ring poignantly, painfully true” – Entertainment Weekly
Oscar-winning Iranian director Asghar Farhadi's (A Separation, The Salesman) twisty new drama focuses on Rahim (Amir Jadidi), a man imprisoned due to his inability to repay a debt.
During a two-day leave from prison, he tries to sort things out by paying part of what he owes. But Rahim finds himself facing a dilemma as his means of repayment actually belong to someone else, and his plans to clear his debt take a disastrous turn.
As in his previous films, Farhadi presents a compelling and humane exploration of the conflict that can arise between self-preservation and following one's moral compass.
Having won the Grand Prix at Cannes 2021, could this thrilling social drama now earn Farhadi a third golden statuette in the upcoming Academy Awards?
