Acclaimed Japanese filmmaker Hamaguchi (Happy Hour) directs this adaptation of Haruki Murakami’s (Norwegian Wood) short story of the same name from his "Men Without Women" collection.
After his wife suddenly dies leaving behind a secret, actor and theatre director Yusuke Kafuku struggles to cope with the loss. Receiving an offer to direct a play in Hiroshima, Kafuku meets a stoic young woman who is assigned to be his driver.
As the two grow closer, Kafuku confides his anguish over his struggle to confront the mystery of his wife.
