We are delighted to welcome Philippe Blanchard, former winner and current director of the Prix Russolo competition for electroacoustic composition, to Phoenix for a talk on the father of noise music, Luigi Russolo (pictured).
Blanchard is an acousmatic music composer. In his talk, he’ll explore Luigi Russolo’s work and his influence on the Italian Futurist movement, and will also consider the role of evolving technology in the acousmatic repertoire – from Russolo’s intonarumori (noise makers) to the present day. The talk will be of interest to anyone interested in the history of electronic music and alternative performance.
You may be interested to know that there will be a concert featuring this year’s Prix Russolo competition finalists in immersive sound on Tue 26 Sep, 7.30pm at PACE Studio 1, Richmond Street, De Montfort University, LE2 7LQ. Admission is free. Please note, this concert is not a Phoenix event and must be booked separately.
