Beginning just after WW2, Cannes has often been the barometer for the best in world cinema but has also never lacked publicity for all the wrong reasons.


Over the course of 6 weeks tutor Alan Seaman will guide you through the highs and lows, the controversies and some of the most memorable films and directors from the last 84 years.


Week 1 – The Early Years

Week 2 – 1960s  

Week 3 – 1970 - 1985

Week 4 – 1986 - 1999

Week 5 –  2000 - 2010

Week 6 –  2011 - 2022


This course will be delivered in person at Phoenix.

ABOUT THE TUTOR


Alan Seaman is an experienced freelance film teacher who works for a wide variety of venues, particularly Phoenix, Derby’s Quad, and Broadway in Nottingham. His main areas of interest are British, Scandinavian and European cinema. Alan is also a stand-up comedian and comedy club compere, and is edging slowly and painfully towards completion of his first crime novel.
