Join tutor Matt Page for a 6 week deep dive into the world of Italian Cinema, looking at the work of some of cinema’s greatest ever filmmakers from the silent era right through to modern day.


Over the course of 6 weeks you will discover the story of Italian cinema, starting with early silents and the fascist period, moving onto the critical acclaim of Neorealism and the creative revolution that followed. You will explore popular mid-century Italian film subgenres including spaghetti westerns, peplum and the giallo movies. Finally, you will look at more recent output such as Oscar winners Cinema Paradiso (1988) and The Great Beauty (2013).


This course will be delivered in person at Phoenix.

ABOUT THE TUTOR


Matt Page has been writing and presenting on cinematic adaptations of the stories of the Bible for 20 years. He's given numerous talks on the subject and featured in several podcasts including "The History Film Club" as well as appearing on Channel 4, The History Channel, BBC Radio Leicester and Radio 4. Matt has contributed to numerous edited volumes and his book "100 Bible Films" was published by the British Film Institute in 2022.
