In 2019, BBC Culture saw 368 film critics and writers from numerous countries vote for their top women-directed films, with the resulting list described as “a stunning collection of films that demonstrates the power, creativity and diversity of cinema made by women around the world.” Over the course of 6 weeks, we’ll explore 50 of the best.

ABOUT THE TUTOR


Alan Seaman is an experienced freelance film teacher who works for a wide variety of venues, particularly Phoenix, Derby’s Quad, and Broadway in Nottingham. His main areas of interest are British, Scandinavian and European cinema. Alan is also a stand-up comedian and comedy club compere, and is edging slowly and painfully towards completion of his first crime novel.
