Created over several years and long shrouded in mystery, James Bidgood’s erotic art film presents a series of lush, dreamlike fantasies centred on a young male sex worker, unfolding within a world of dazzling colour and erotic imagination. Released at a time when positive, nuanced or explicit representations of queer desire were rarely seen, Pink Narcissus offered a bold alternative to dominant depictions of LGBTQ+ lives.
