La Bola Negra 15

“★★★★ – a rich and rewarding movie” – Guardian.

“A genre-defying queer epic, rooted in the legacy of beloved writer Federico García Lorca, this is majestic and original filmmaking.” – BFI

Jaier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo took home awards at Cannes and TIFF for this expertly crafted narrative triptych. The lives of three men in three different and distinctive eras in Spain – 1932, 1939, 2017 – are inextricably interwoven in this vast, vivid portrait of Spanish history. Taking inspiration from an unfinished work by playwright Federico Garcia Lorca, La Bola Negra is a moving, intimate odyssey of love, sexuality, homophobia and war with appearances from Penélope Cruz, Julio Torres and Glenn Close.

In Spanish and English with English subtitles.
