Exodus

Exodus

14 - 30 Aug 2012
An audio trail and video installation by Martin Rieser marking the 40th Anniversary of the Ugandan Asian Expulsion

The expulsion of Asians from Uganda by Idi Amin in 1972 happened within sixty days. The stories of those who fled are told through an interactive artwork in the Phoenix Café Bar and an audio trail between Phoenix and New Walk Museum. Their accounts of expulsion, migration and new lives in Leicester are told in their own words.

You can participate in this artwork by adding your own memories. Exodus is part of a series of events marking the 40th anniversary of the expulsion from Uganda and connects with the exhibition From Kampala to Leicester at New Walk Museum and Art Gallery.
