Joe Travers from IMA will talk through the history of Brutalism and point out where you can see and experience it locally and on film.

With its ensemble cast firing on all cylinders, Brady Corbet's sublime, monumental new film is both epic  and intimate, and feels like a throwback to event cinema with chapters, overture and a built-in 15 minute intermission.

Having survived the holocaust and fleeing the continued persecution in post-war Europe, Jewish architect László Toth (Brody) arrives in America to build a life for himself and his family. László settles in Pennsylvania where his work catches the eye of wealthy industrialist Harrison Lee Van Buren (Pearce) who commissions him to build a huge brutalist community centre.

But László’s uncompromising vision puts him at odds with his partners, and his legacy comes with a heavy cost.

The film includes a 15min intermission with a countdown timer.
