Phoenix co-CEO Ros Hill is leaving the charity after 21 years, having joined in 2005 as Customer Services Coordinator before becoming Operations Manager, followed by Head of Operations, and most recently leading the organisation as co-CEO alongside Sarah Vallance.

Ros joined Phoenix in 2005 as Customer Services Coordinator before becoming Operations Manager, followed by Head of Operations, and most recently leading the organisation as Co-CEO alongside Sarah Vallance.

She was part of the team that relocated Phoenix from the old building on Upper Brown Street to the Cultural Quarter in 2009. Ros’s commitment, leadership and contribution to Phoenix over more than two decades have been considerable. She has played an integral role within the senior leadership team, leading across customer experience and venue operations, and helping to shape Phoenix as audiences know it today.

Ros was Phoenix’s lead for the major capital expansion completed in 2023, working closely with architects and contractors, and project managing the venue fit-out and operational readiness programme to support the reopening of the expanded facilities now enjoyed by thousands of visitors.

Commenting, Ros said:

“It’s been incredibly rewarding to have played a part in shaping Phoenix and its spaces through such a significant period of evolution. It’s wonderful to see audiences enjoying the expanded venue and everything Phoenix offers today. I’m proud of all that has been achieved collectively and grateful to have worked alongside such committed and talented people. I’ll always look back on my time at Phoenix with huge affection.”

Ali Sinclair Phoenix’s Chair added :

For all of her 21 years Ros has been instrumental in shaping the Phoenix customer experience, ensuring the smooth running of operations and setting the standards for the much valued Phoenix customer service across our operations . In addition Ros  leaves us with a tangible legacy in our expanded venue with the addition of 2 new screens making us a 4 screen venue, with a larger Café Bar a configurable upstairs events area including a roof top garden terrace that is thriving. Under Ros’s leadership the ambience and accessibility of the capital expansion are award winning and are key factors that underpin what Phoenix is able to deliver  capitalising on the expansion in our cultural and commercial activities now and in the future.

On behalf of our board, staff, creative partners and customers I want to say a huge thank you to Ros for her expertise and dedication to Phoenix and to wish her well for the future.”
