Hetain Patel in Conversation

An Indian Summer’s Creative Director Gee Sian talks to Hetain Patel about what it means to be an artist who just happens to be Indian, and who still wishes he was Spiderman! Why do we feel the need to ‘perform’ in our everyday lives – wearing certain clothes, changing our accent, using different vocabularies? Is in in an effort to fit in, or stand out… or both? Searching for an identity is a universal pursuit that Patel explores through his work.
The talk is in conjunction with Patel’s Heaven and Earth exhibition, in which he a displays a unique way to access the complex time cycles of the classical Indian drum, the tabla.
