1999 is an augmented reality trail exploring one past life (amongst others) of the area now known as the Cultural Quarter. Long-closed underground clubs are remembered through 3D layouts and architectural floor plans, drawn from a deep dive into hazy, bassy memories of the late ’90s and early ’00s.

Created by artist Khush Kali, this augmented reality trail can be experienced via your smartphone or tablet – using the device’s camera to overlay a ‘digital layer’ on real world locations.

You will need to open this web page on your phone or tablet:

1999

This will ask you for permission to use your camera. Allow this to view the AR trail. There are AR drawings to find on Rutland St., Midland St., Halford St. and Lee Circle.

We plan to announce a guided tour of the trail soon.

This activity has been generously supported by Leicester Art Week and made possible by public funding from the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
