19th Century Gifs
In this workshop we used one of the earliest forms of animation – the phenakistoscope – to create digital gifs.
This 19th century technique produced short repeating moving images, similar to today’s gifs.
After drawing onto a simple paper template, we turned your ‘phenakistoscopes’ into a real digital animations using Scratch, a simple computer coding language for children.
