Two Queens Presents: I Push my Fingers into my Phone’s Eyes
What does it mean to live alongside technologies that shape how we work, communicate, create and relate to one another?
Curated by Two Queens and Phoenix, this gallery exhibition brings together work by artists responding to themes of technological trust and mistrust, comfort and discomfort, connection and dependency.
Taking its title from the tension between attachment and resistance, the exhibition explores our increasingly complex relationship with digital devices and systems. We rely on them daily, yet many of us remain uneasy about their influence on our lives. Ideas of refusal and rejection can feel difficult, or even impossible, in a world shaped by networked technologies.
The exhibition also draws inspiration from Leicestershire’s connection to the Luddite movement, which saw workers challenge the social and economic impact of new technologies during the Industrial Revolution. More than two centuries later, questions about technology, power, labour and agency remain as relevant as ever.
