Place and Memory

Fri 7 Apr – Sun 18 Jun
Our Place and Memory exhibition explored the heritage and legacy of Phoenix over our 60 year history.

Place and Memory explored the heritage and legacy of Phoenix in the run up to our 60th birthday. The exhibition featured interactive digital works by emerging artists Adam Stephenson and Martin Cibik, who were mentored by Sean Clark as part of REAL Initiative, with additional works by Sean Clark and Calum Vaughan.

The digital works incorporated archival materials which were donated by members of the public or uncovered by our digital arts team, and help to tell the story of Phoenix’s rich cultural history since it was founded in 1963.

There was also a series of special events throughout the exhibition’s run, and the exhibition was discussed in our podcast.

The exhibition was part-funded by Phoenix, the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), Midlands Engine and supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
