Tense and gripping, The Man Standing Next is a powerful political thriller from director Woo Min-ho (The Drug King) and starring Lee Byung-hun (A Bittersweet Life), which charts one of the most shocking incidents in South Korea’s turbulent history.

In 1979 South Korea is firmly under the heel of President Park. His 18 year long dictatorship is threatened, however, when the former head of the Korean Central Intelligence Agency flees to America. The new director of the KCIA, Kim Gyu-pyeong, is sent to intercept his predecessor before he can reveal state secrets, but as the government’s web of lies continues to be spun, old alliances crumble and new ones rise.
