Summer of Soul 12A

Fri 13 – Sun 15 Aug

“★★★★★ – forgotten festival of Black brilliance finally gets its dues” – NME

“★★★★ – a thrilling step back in time” – The Times

★★★★★ – Guardian | ★★★★★ – Empire

Back by popular demand. A celebration of Black history, culture and fashion, the directorial debut of musician Questlove won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance Film Festival and focuses on the 1969 Harlem Culture Festival.

Comprised of over 40 hours of archive footage that was left untouched in a basement for almost 50 years, the film features never-before-seen performances by Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Gladys Knight & the Pips and many more.

A profound, raucus and hugely enjoyable look into an incredible event that was almost forgotten.

Dir: Ahmir 'Questlove' Thompson

Cast: Chris Rock, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Gladys Knight
