Our Funders

As a charity, we are supported by stakeholders who have invested in Phoenix and helped us to become an established part of Leicester’s cultural life.

A registered charity (No. 701078), we aim to bring inspirational film and art to all and are supported by funding from our major stakeholders – the British Film Institute (BFI), Arts Council England (ACE), De Montfort University (DMU), Leicester City Council (LCC), and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

Core Funders

British Film Institute

Awarding funds from the National Lottery, the BFI supports Phoenix so that we can expand the reach, depth and breadth of people’s experiences of British and independent films.

Arts Council England

Phoenix receives regular funding from the Arts council England under the National Portfolio programme.

Leicester City Council

Leicester City Council is a founding stakeholder of Phoenix and continues to support the organisation’s contribution to the city.

De Montfort University

DMU is a founding stakeholder of Phoenix, and supports Phoenix through sponsorship. The two organisations work closely together on research and academic programmes and to support city’s offer.

Foyle Foundation

Grant funding from Foyle Foundation supports the delivery of our cultural programme and our charitable activities.

European Regional Development Fund

The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) supported our REAL Initiative project, which provided dedicated facilities, business support and mentoring to individuals and micro-businesses in the creative and digital industries in Leicester and Leicestershire.

Independent Cinema Office

Phoenix is pleased to work with the Independent Cinema Office in support of our programming, film selection and marketing. ICO is a charity that aims to bring a wider range of films to a wider range of people, so people can access amazing film culture wherever they are in the UK.
