"a heartfelt, extravagant film, swirling with melodrama and music" – Guardian

A complete reimagining of Bizet’s Carmen, Millepied’s take is an enthralling mix of gritty modern day tale and magical realism, with a majestic score by Nicholas Britell.

Forced to flee her home in rural Mexico and cross the border into the US, the fiery Carmen (Barrera) meets Aidan (Mescal) a Marine with PTSD.

After a violent stand-off the two go on the run seeking a sanctuary of music and dance in LA, but they know time is running out as the police hunt closes in.

Some parts in Spanish with English subtitles.
