Cinema Paradiso meets Slumdog Millionaire in Pan Nalin’s gorgeous love-letter to cinema. In rural India, young Samay and his gang spend their time at the train station, travelling each day to school by rail.

After a trip to the cinema with his family, Samay announces he wants to work in the film business, much against his father’s wishes.

Developing a friendship with an old projectionist, Samay becomes obsessed with the magic of film projection, and decides with his gang to try and build a 35mm projector – little realising that digital projection is coming and the days of celluloid might be numbered…

We are very pleased that director Pan Nalin wll be joining us for a post-screening Q&A via Zoom.

In Gujarati with English subtitles

Screening as part of Challo Gujarat, a season of contemporary Gujarati films across February and March, presented by Phizzical, Phoenix and Film Hub Midlands.
